“ The culinary experience was great. It's clear that a chef cooks and not an average cook. The only issue was with one of the staff that didn't spoke English and I'm guessing not a lot of Italian. But the others were great. I would sure come back. ”
“ Reasonable prices and professional service. TAGLIATA was good quality beef. The pasta was arranged with your favorite pasta and sauce. When I knocked over my red wine glass, the staff and the manager came immediately and guided me to another seat smoothly. The service was professional and they served me the next red wine for free. I live in Japan and Matera is very far away. But I want to come back to Matera and PIETRA VITA. It was a great restaurant. ”
“ Delicious authentic Italian food. We ordered the steak, a few sides, 2012 bottle of red and pasta. All super tasty. Very friendly staff. Limited menu, which means they focus on quality. This place gets busy, so go there early or make a reservation. Try to sit outside by the corner. Highly recommend it for anyone who likes to avoid touristy cliche restaurants :) Ciao ”
“ One of the best restaurants we had during the trip in Puglia. Food is really outstanding, could recommend every dishes we had. ”
“ One of the best restaurants I visited while in the city of Matera. The food was well prepared and presented. The place was full. Sadly some of the desserts were sold out. The remaining desserts were not as good (too sweet). But all in all I’d come back for main courses. ”
“ We immediately liked the menu as the group of five of us, needed a break from pizza and pasta. Each of the four dinners (2 of us ordered the same) were very nicely prepared, attractively plated and piping hot. I really enjoyed my cod with tomatoes and olives. Can you believe I’ve been in Italy more than a week and finally got served olives? These were unusually tiny but pitted. Others ordered the pork cheeks in a rich brown sauce, lamb, or truffle pasta. One person ordered the pumpkin soup, shown in pictures. The owner/ manager kindly offered three of us a side of roasted potatoes, mixed salad or mushrooms, since our choices did not normally come with any. This experience was one of eating “fine Italian” cuisine featuring local specialties, in attractive surroundings, by a gracious host. ”
“ We were on the way to another restaurant when we passed in front of Pietra Viva. I check the reviews and decided to try. We’re very welcome from the waiter, atmosphere was calm and cozy, food was perfect and service very warm. I recommend and would return for sure. ”
“ The most incredible experience in Matera. We hit this place by coinsidence and was absolutely suprised - the food is so nice, so tastefull, service is so warm. Place does not look like a fancy restaurant, but by meaning of food - it is! Zucchini soup was amazing - fool, rich raste. We tried cod and lamb chops and it was also just great. Antipasti is traditional, but preparation of dish is modern. No doubt - it is a MUST place for anybody who value good kitchen! ”
